Grandmas and Grandpa come to visit

We were so blessed, so grateful to have Dave's parents come and visit, and bring my mom with them too! Dave's parents were planning a trip out the Colorado for about 5 days, a couple of days they would spend with Dave's sister Rachel in Denver, and then they would come see us in Colorado Springs. Before their trip they called and offered to bring over my mom with them too!!! Yay!!! In my mom's words, "What a marvelous idea!" They are the sweetest in-laws ever, really. So when everyone arrived in Denver, we met them there and picked my mom up so she could stay with us.

Of course we stayed up way too late, and I was dreading the morning when Kayla would wake up super early, like always. But she actually let us sleep in. (Except poor Dave who had to work, bless him, he is wonderful.) I woke up to Kayla quietly talking to herself in the hallway. There she was with books and puzzles and some of her bedding, camped out in front of grandma's door, patiently waiting for her to wake up. It was so cute, so touching. She really does love her grandmas so much.

We had a lot of fun with grandma Carol! We had her for a few days, and then she stayed over at my brother's. She was so sweet to play Kayla's favorite games, Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land, over and over! All us girls even had a tea party. That is Kayla's favorite special thing to do. We busted out her pretty princess tea set, made some yummy chicken salad sandwiches, had yummy treats, and watched "Beauty and the Beast" all cuddled up. Kayla had juice, and my mom and I had some herbal tea she brought over that was Chamomile Vanilla tea, for my nausea. Kayla tried it, but didn't like it too much! We enjoyed Kayla, reacting to the movie, and watching for our reactions to her. It was wonderful. I was going to get a picture, but I enjoyed the moment instead!

We took my mom to an indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf course. It was a lot of fun! Kayla did pretty well, for being 5 and for a first timer mini-golfer. She even got her first hole in one!!!

The timing of this visit fell on Mother's Day weekend! What a treat to have both our moms here on this special day! It was a pretty busy day though. Our ward split, we knew in advance because Dave was called as the Executive Secretary. So some of our plans were changed due to meetings. For my mom, us kids planned a lunch at my brother's place. Dave had to leave early, but we all had a blast visiting and of course, eating! Dave's parents had a busy day of visiting two wards, because their old ward had split, and seeing friends. One of their friends held an open house for them, which we got to go to for a little bit. Despite the craziness of the day it was so wonderful, and I was so happy we got to hug and tell our moms "Happy Mother's Day!!!!" in person.

Gma and Gpa's Visit

Now it was our turn with Dave's parents and we had a lot of fun with them too!!! When we go visit them, we have to share them with everyone else there in Logan too, so it was awesome to have them for ourselves!

At one point we went to the DAV, Disabled American Veteran thrift store, that was my mother-in-law's favorite thrift store while she lived here in Colorado Springs. She was so excited, because it was the best, even better than D.I. But she was disappointed when we went, so her new proclaimed winner is definitely D.I.!!! I do love D.I. too. I wish we had one in Colorado Springs. Dave and I found a baby play table though, for $0.99 cents! Wahoo! AND, found out military gets half off...though we BOTH had forgotten our I.D.s. I'm just waiting until I know the baby is a boy or a girl and I can pounce on that deal!

We played lots and lots of games. My mother-in-law is the queen of games. All the Thomanders LOVE games, and they are really good too. Dave's mom at one point said, "Oh, it's just so embarrassing to win all the time." She is so cute, and good too! She played lots of games with Kayla too. Games are in Kayla's blood. She is a Thomander!

We all played a game of Jenga, at Kayla's choosing. It was a pretty intense game! I think we ended up stacking as high as 36! We were all pretty proud of ourselves!
My mother-in-law saw my steam mop in the garage, and wanted to try it out. So we spread mustard and jelly on the floor, which was kinda fun, and dried it more with my hair dryer. Then she tried it out. It was our own little infomercial!

My father-in-law was very sweet and took us all out to eat. Yay! I didn't have to cook! I caught a moment of them reading to Kayla. How sweet!

The visit was too short!!! We were sad to say goodbye! But we were so happy they all came out to visit us! Thank you for everything! Thank you Gma and Gpa Thomander for bringing my mom along with you too!!! That was a blast! Anyone else want to visit before the spare room is turned into a nursery? =)
