Our House!

We are renting a house! It is so cute! We were very blessed though, because my brother Michael and my sister-in-law Ruth live here and they were so sweet to go and look at houses for us. We found this house on rentals.com, and with Ruth's help would go check them out for us and give the low down on each. We couldn't have done it without her! Thank you Ruth and Michael! The AF usually does give you some time to look for a house, but we really wanted to be able to move right in. We got here on Aug. 6th, in the morning, signed lease papers and then Dave went on base to report. He had a sponsor that was showing him around. When he and the sponsor went to go meet the Colonel, his sponsor said, "By the way, you don't have a house." Dave thought, "What?! Uh-oh! I thought it was okay?" So when his Colonel asked him, he said his house was in the works. When he asked his sponsor why he said that he said that the AF is weird and that's what you have to say, that way you still have that allotted time to get settled in and unpack, otherwise, if you have a house and tell them, you have to work. But Dave didn't feel good about it and went back the next day to talk to the housing office. He told them he had a house and they said not to tell his Colonel, but Dave said he would, and they said he was crazy. He then told his Colonel, and he sighed and shook his head and it seemed like he was thinking, why did you tell me? But Dave asked him if he could still have the week off to get settled in, and he said yes! So, it worked out, but I guess that's the procedure or something, don't tell them you have a house so you can unpack? But we got most everything situated and unpacked that first week and even hung pictures! It was nice to have Dave home too.
