Winter Wildland

A.k.a., the Electric Safari at the Zoo. They changed the name. Yes, another zoo posting. But THIS time it’s different because we went at night with a ton of pretty lights! We all went, it was fun. Can't beat temple square lights, but the lights at the zoo were pretty cool! This was a lighted "tiger" tunnel.

This one was pretty funny. I couldn't time the picture right, but the lights move upward through the tail and then you see the skunk "spray" the bear.
Me and Kayla
We had tried to go to the zoo earlier in the week. Kayla and Jacob were really excited to go. We all made the slightly lengthy drive to the zoo, and Ruth had even made hot chocolate in thermoses, but found when we got there, it didn’t open until Thursday! We saw a few cars in the parking lot, who apparently thought it would be open too. That’s when we went to go look at the neighborhood Christmas lights.

But we got to go, yea! Of course my favorite animals to see are the River Otters, they were so cute! They were pretty feisty at one point wrestling each other and swirling all over in front of the glass, alas, it was too dark to video it! We got to see the hippos get hosed down with water and fed bread up close. Their mouths are huge! They are cute! Those were also my favorites.

Here is Uncle Phillip giving Kayla a ride on his shoulders. She said, “Look at me! I’m a giraffe!” And here’s Uncle Dave giving Jacob a ride on his shoulders. He kept telling Dave, “Giraffe, go faster!”
Here's my beautiful mom!
Before we went to the zoo we had an early birthday party for my mom. We won't be together for her birthday! So we had cake and ice cream and sang to her.
