Pete Light

So Dave is part of Civil Engineering and there is a flight in his squadron that is the environmental flight.  As part of a push for energy conservation, a few years ago they invented a mascot called "Pete Light" (for Peterson Air Force Base).  They made a costume and several people in the squadron have taken their turn dressing up as Pete Light.  On April 22nd the environmental flight held a ceremony planting trees and it was Dave's turn to dress up.

So I took the girls and we went to the ceremony.  When the squadron commander was introduced to speak Makenna, randomly, cheered and did a high pitched scream.  This got the attention of the commander and all the people in attendance.  The commander looked over at me and smiled, and seemed flattered.  I don't know if he thought it was me, or if he realized it was Makenna, but either way it was funny!  After the ceremony we waited our turn to see Pete Light.  I told Kayla it was daddy, and she still was a little bit shy. It was interesting to watch Makenna when she had her turn.  Dave was talking to her from inside the suit, and saying her name and it was funny to watch because Makenna looked a little perplexed because this costume sounded like daddy but was not daddy.  It was pretty cute.  All the kids LOVED Pete Light, of course.  Dave walked around all silly, waved and danced, took pictures with them, and high fived all the kids...and tried not to get beat up or trampled by them. : )
