Santa at the Fire Dept. on base

The civil engineer squadron had a Christmas party for the kids on base at Peterson's fire dept, with all the fire trucks in their warehouse! They had set up a pretty sweet, pretty huge blow-up bouncy fire truck with a slide on one side. Kayla was on there the majority of the time, and we had to coax her away from it to do the other activites they had there.

They had pizza and drinks for us to eat. We made a card and then decorated (and ate) some sugar cookies.

And THEN Santa came! Dave said he must be an Air Force Santa because he was in really good shape, where was his belly? =) All the kids gathered around, and waited for their name to be called. Poor Kayla was one of the very last ones to be called. But she was really good and patient while she waited. When Santa asked her what she wanted for Christmas she asked for a pony. (? That was news to me!) All the kids got books for a present. Genius idea! Santa was really nice, and walked around to make sure everyone got a candy cane.

Here's Kayla waiting patiently in the pink shirt. All the other kids left after they got their present.

Santa and Kayla examing her present.
The commander's wife organized the event and later she made sure we all knew about the santa tracker at NORAD. I had totally forgotten about that. I grew up mostly in Colorado Springs, so I remember hearing on the radio where Santa was, from NORAD. I should have posted this link on the blog then. But for next year, the link is: http://www.noradsanta.org/
